Hamburg, November 27, 2018. Infront Consulting, a subsidiary of KPS AG, has won two awards in the Best of Consulting competition, making it one of Germany’s best management consultancies. In the Competitive Strategy category, Infront impressed with its consulting services for a new IoT solution for mechanical engineering company KSB. In the second award-winning project (in the Marketing & Organization category), Infront supported eprimo in establishing new-work concepts. German weekly business news magazine WirtschaftsWoche this year presented its Best of Consulting awards for the ninth time. The award ceremony was held in Düsseldorf on November 20, 2018.
“Alongside developing digital business strategies and models, implementing effective and agile transformation programs has always been a key element of our consulting approach," says Robert E. Neurohr, Partner at Infront. “So we’re very pleased about the two awards for our client projects, for which initial strategy development has been completed and successfully implemented.”
KSB Guard: end-to-end monitoring of pump systems
The customer project focusing on KSB Guard, an innovative pump monitoring solution, received an award in the Competitive Strategy category. KSB, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial valves and pumps, jointly developed the idea for KSB Guard with Infront two years ago. The solution was developed using a workshop concept developed by Infront and called "The Five Horsemen of the Digitalization Apocalypse". In a first step, five directions for possible new business models were examined together with the customer.
The sensor for monitoring pumps was developed based on the results. KSB Guard monitors both KSB pumps and pumps from other manufacturers and connects them to the Internet. The forward-looking IoT solution can detect anomalies faster and enables maintenance planning based on specific measurement data. The app also provides a totally new customer interface via which KSB intends to sell spare parts, classic and new services, and even new equipment going forward. “With KSB Guard, we are further enhancing our position as a digital leader in fluid handling," says Dr. Thomas Paulus, CDO of KSB SE KGaA.
This expansion impressed the Best in Consulting jury as a clear advantage for the company’s competitive strategy.
Agile forms of organization: new work at eprimo
The second project was the organizational transformation at eprimo, which was recognized in the Marketing & Organization category. eprimo is one of the leading German energy providers and a subsidiary of Innogy. Infront supported eprimo in transitioning the company to an agile organizational structure. eprimo is no longer divided into traditional departments; instead, it now works in agile cross-functional teams that pursue their goals independently. With this innovative organizational framework, eprimo is systematically focusing on the dynamic development of the energy market and is implementing a strategy that was likewise developed in collaboration with Infront. “With Infront’s support, eprimo has further strengthened its competitive position as one of the most innovative companies in the energy industry,” says Dr. Lars Wolf, Head of Strategy at eprimo. In the run-up to the organizational transformation, the partners eprimo and Infront had jointly set up an innovation laboratory and leveraged the experience gained there to successfully evolve the entire organization. “WirtschaftsWoche’s award in the Marketing & Organization category is the fitting accolade for our work. After winning awards in 2016 and 2017 in the Innovation category, we are particularly pleased to have taken honors in two categories at WirtschaftsWoche’s Best in Consulting event this year. This underscores the outstanding quality of the consulting offered by Infront as a partner for digital transformation,” says Frank Deburba, Partner at Infront.
